New Restrooms Up for Council Vote

The City Council on Monday will consider spending $212,501 to build public restrooms and a pro shop next to the tennis courts in Camino Real Park.
The contract for the project, designed to help the city host tournaments, receptions and other group functions, would go to low-bidder Timothy J. Ferrie of Ojai.
The restrooms, city officials say, would also be accessible from a nearby playground. The project would include new concrete paving, steps and walkways.
The price tag is considerably higher than a design engineer’s $150,000 estimate. The cost increase is being attributed to busy contractors not actively bidding on new projects and a decision to purchase more expensive lighting, plumbing fixtures and floor-to-ceiling tile that officials said would cut down long-term maintenance costs.
