Police were searching Wednesday for two men who allegedly kidnapped, assaulted and tried to rape a 14-year-old girl before throwing her out of a car.
The girl was walking south on Monterey Street near Olive Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when the men pulled up beside her and tried to persuade her to get in the car, Monrovia Police Sgt. Steve Cofield said.
She told police that she asked the men to leave her alone, but the man in the passenger seat grabbed her and forced her inside the vehicle, Cofield said.
Police said the girl told investigators the men tried to remove her clothing but she fought back and they finally gave up and tossed her from the car near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 5th Street. The girl suffered minor injuries, according to police.
The men drove off in a car described as a four-door, light blue 1980s model, full-sized vehicle in poor condition with a light beige or brown top, Cofield said. The car interior is light blue with bench seats in the front and back, police said.
Monrovia police are requesting anyone with information about the attack to call the department at (626) 359-1152, Ext. 8020.
