Defendant Accuses Gucci’s Ex-Wife

A former pizzeria owner accused in the death of a scion of the Gucci fashion house admitted he drove the getaway car and identified the victim’s ex-wife as the mastermind of the killing. But Orazio Cicala testified in a Milan courtroom that police arrested the wrong hit man. He described the real killer as a “dolt” he had met when he was dealing drugs. “I can’t give you his name because I have children and a family,” he told the court. The prosecution says Maurizio Gucci was slain under the direction of his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani Martinelli, when he threatened to cut her alimony in half to $900,000 a year.
