MOORPARK — A woman has been arrested on suspicion of falsely reporting a burglary at her home, resulting in hours of wasted time for investigators, authorities said.
Kari Mora, 30, called sheriff’s deputies in Moorpark on Monday afternoon and told them a burglar had broken into her home and was still inside, authorities said.
Detectives and members of the sheriff’s crime lab spent hours at the scene collecting evidence by examining the broken rear window and drops of blood on the broken glass, authorities said. Officials said the woman told deputies she did not know the identity of the burglar.
After interviewing neighbors, however, deputies said they learned there had been an argument involving Mora, her husband and her boyfriend just before deputies arrived. Later, authorities said, Mora and her husband confirmed an argument had occurred and said the boyfriend left the residence after first breaking the window to let himself inside.
After further questioning, authorities said, Mora told them she had falsely reported the burglary because she wanted to scare her boyfriend.
