‘Truman’ Wins Another Week in Office

“The Truman Show,” which stars Jim Carrey as a man who discovers that his entire life has been made into a TV show without his knowledge, proved it has staying power. The critically acclaimed Peter Weir film took in $20 million at the box office over the weekend to remain No. 1 for the second week in a row.

Coming in second was the romantic comedy “Six Days, Seven Nights,” starring Harrison Ford and Anne Heche as opposites who find love on a deserted island.

The film took in $16.5 million, apparently dispelling fears in Hollywood that Heche, one of the most famous lesbians in America, would not be accepted by moviegoers in an on-screen heterosexual relationship.
