A 24-year-old man died after being shot during a gang-related curbside argument in Anaheim late Sunday, police said.
Officers responding to a reported shooting found the man lying on the grass in front of an apartment complex at 2880 W. Ball Road about 11:40 p.m., Sgt. Joe Vargas said.
Paramedics took him to Columbia West Anaheim Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, Vargas said. The man’s identity was not released Monday because his family had not been notified.
Witnesses told police that the man and two friends were arguing with three other men when the fight escalated and someone opened fire, Vargas said.
The victim was not the intended target of the shooting, he said.
Investigators arrested three men on suspicion of murder: Jose Alberto Aviles, 18, of Westminster; Hector Guerrero Castro, 20, of Westminster; and Wilfred Herrera Rivera, 29, of Garden Grove. They were booked into Anaheim City Jail.
