Boeing Jets to Face Rudder Inspections

The government is preparing to order new inspections of about 1,500 Boeing jetliners after the pilot of a 737 found his rudder pedals did not work and follow-up inspections found problems with other 737s. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing believe the problems were caused by incorrect installation of rudder assembly bolts. Boeing said it has revised its manufacturing process to ensure the nuts are properly tightened.
