Lea Has Another Record Effort

Matt Lea set a school record by clocking 48.5 seconds in the 400-meter race for Camarillo, but the Scorpion boys’ track team was edged out, 71-70, by Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League tri-meet Wednesday at Camarillo.
Channel Islands finished with 29 points.
Lea’s time bettered a previous school record he set last week. He also won the 200 meters in 21.9 seconds and anchored the Scorpions’ winning 1,600-meter relay team.
Thousand Oaks also won the girls’ meet.
SOFTBALL
Alemany 4, Paraclete 0--Kim Diener (5-3) pitched her fourth shutout, striking out seven and walking one, and Meghann Reiss had two hits and one run batted in for the Indians (5-3) in a nonleague victory at Alemany.
Temple City 1, Burbank 0--Lindsay Ellingsworth pitched a perfect game with 12 strikeouts for Temple City in the first round of the Hoover tournament at Pelanconi Park in Glendale.
Meghan Lackey took the loss for Burbank (3-4), despite allowing only one hit, a run-scoring double to Ryann Ellingsworth, in six innings.
Hoover 10, Eagle Rock 1--Cori Herbert and Hailey Henning combined on a one-hitter in a Hoover tournament game.
Herbert (3-1) pitched six innings, allowing a fourth-inning single while striking out 11 and walking three.
Justine Takizawa had a run-scoring double and a pair of run-scoring singles for the Tornadoes (3-1), and Diane Lee added a two-run double.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Camarillo 10, Royal 8--Mike Mancini, Andrew Gold and Quoc Ly each won two of three singles sets to account for six of Camarillo’s points in a Marmonte League match at Rancho Simi Community Park.
Anders Oding won all three of his singles sets to improve to 18-0, and Richard Oh and Milad Tehrani swept three doubles sets for Royal (4-2, 1-1).
GOLF
Nordhoff 369, Buena 398--Shawn Andrews fired an even-par 72 to lead Nordhoff and the Rangers (5-1) recorded their best total score of the season.
Calabasas 207, Chaminade 218--Aaron Levine shot a two-over-par 38 to win medalist honors for Calabasas in a nonleague match at Calabasas Country Club.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Newbury Park d. Simi Valley, 15-5, 15-6, 15-4--Robert Congelliere and Collin McKeown each had nine kills and Jon Enke added seven for Newbury Park (3-1, 3-0) in a Marmonte League victory at Simi Valley.
Van Nuys d. Grant, 15-8, 15-10, 14-16, 15-13--Ioannis Avaramis had 14 kills, 10 blocks and four aces for Van Nuys (3-1, 1-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Van Nuys.
Mike Yildiz had 12 kills to pace Grant (3-1, 1-0).
Monroe d. Sylmar, 10-15, 15-7, 15-7, 15-8--Hugo Cabadas had 14 kills and four blocks and Jose Sanchez added eight kills and 11 blocks for the Vikings (2-2, 1-1)) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Monroe.
