Hispanic Media Group Halts Disney Boycott

The National Hispanic Media Coalition has suspended its yearlong boycott of Walt Disney Co., saying the entertainment giant has taken strides in minority hiring. The boycott against Disney and its ABC television network was suspended Friday. Among other things, the Los Angeles-based coalition had demanded that Disney provide a plan to place Latinos at all levels, including the board of directors. Alex Nogales, the coalition’s national chairman, said Disney has hired or promoted eight Latinos into directorships or vice presidencies since the boycott began in April and has contracted more extensively with Latino-owned companies.
