Sunday Benefit Is No Joke

Comedian Chris Fonseca will perform at the Improv in Hollywood on Sunday and donate a portion of the proceeds to a nonprofit organization that trains dogs for people with disabilities.

In his 13-year career, Fonseca, who was born with cerebral palsy, has appeared on the “Late Show With David Letterman,” the “Latino Laugh Festival” and “Arsenio.” He also has a new CD, “Not Tonight, I Have Cerebral Palsy.”

Canine Companions--A story in the May 11 Health section provided incorrect information about the nonprofit organization Canine Companions for Independence. The group does not provide dogs for the blind. Among other services, the group does provide service dogs and hearing dogs for the disabled.

A portion of ticket sales from Fonseca’s performance will benefit the Southwest Regional Center of Canine Companions for Independence. The group provides dogs for the blind and people with other physical disabilities. Based in Oceanside, the southwest branch of Canine Companions serves 11 states, from Arkansas to Hawaii.
