Chief Administrative Officer Plans to Retire Next Year

The city’s chief administrative officer announced she will retire next year after 25 years of working for the city.
Jody Hall-Esser, who has served in her position since 1991, said she will retire June 30, 1999, allowing the City Council time to hire her replacement.
The council will recruit nationally for Hall-Esser’s successor, said Councilman Ed Wolkowitz. “Jody has been an incredible resource to the city. It’s impossible to replace an institutional memory that goes back 25 years in terms of how things are done and how things relate to one another,” said Wolkowitz. “She will certainly be missed.”
