Those taken aback by John Lennon’s lyrical jabs at his contemporaries (Pop Eye, Oct. 18) may find solace in knowing that he has not been immune to the occasional barb himself.
One that comes to mind is from Elvis Costello. In his song “The Other Side of Summer,” he delivers a line with a not-too-hidden reference: “Was it a millionaire who said ‘Imagine no possessions’?”
How do you sleep John? As I’m sure Messrs. Dylan, McCartney, Harrison and Costello wish, you sleep with angels.
