Pate, a senior, personally wrecked La Quinta’s first playoff appearance in eight years, leading Fullerton to a 43-27 first-round victory in Division IX. Pate threw two touchdown passes measuring 35 and 10 yards. He scored three other touchdowns on a 72-yard kickoff return, a 52-yard punt return and a 38-yard interception return. Pate has passed for nine touchdowns and scored 16 this season.
