An African culture and arts festival this weekend kicks off a major exhibit of Central African art and two months of African-related activities in St. Louis.
“Masterpieces From Central Africa” culls 125 objects from Belgium’s 100-year-old Royal Museum for Central Africa--its first touring collection. They will be displayed at the St. Louis Art Museum through Nov. 29, then move to the Art Institute of Chicago.
Among events linked to the exhibit are a special African dinner (Tuesday, $35.95), a film festival (Oct. 9, 10, 11 and 17) and African musical performances (Oct. 4 and 18). Adult admission to the art show is $5; free on Tuesdays. Information: telephone (314) 721-0072.
