Poll Workers
This is a suggestion to relieve the problem of filling the polling stations on election day with workers (Sept. 6). Offer the one day of polling service in exchange for the 10 days of jury duty. The cost is the same and I believe a great number of people would gladly fulfill their civil or community obligation. Give us a choice to serve one way or the other. It has to be better than the current system that excuses so many. It would be much harder to find an excuse to not be able to give up one day a year in your life to do your share as a citizen. It just might solve two problems at once.
