Information Sought on Bank Robber

Federal and local authorities asked for the public’s help Wednesday in identifying a man accused of committing a dozen bank heists in the Los Angeles area, including two robberies at one San Fernando bank.
In the San Fernando robberies, the man wore a white dress shirt, slacks, a baseball cap and dark black sunglasses, detectives said, adding that he was polite and asked tellers for a bag to carry the money.
“The guy seems to be a very patient person,” said Joseph E. Auther, an FBI special agent. “He’ll engage customers and employees in conversations. He waits for the next available teller and makes his move.”
A bank surveillance photo from the robbery of a California Federal Bank branch at 456 Brand Blvd. in San Fernando shows the suspect to be a medium-built Latino in his 20s, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, weighing 160 to 170 pounds, authorities said.
Federal officials said they believe the man is also responsible for a series of Los Angeles-area bank robberies that began July 6.
“Part of what makes him so dangerous is that he lulls you into a feeling of security,” said San Fernando Police Det. Lance M. Steaman.
