CANOGA PARK — A Los Angeles police officer fatally shot a man during a confrontation Thursday at a gas station, authorities said.
The man, whose age and name were not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The shooting took place about 8:20 p.m. at the Shell station at De Soto Avenue and Nordhoff Street.
LAPD spokesman Don Cox said one officer was injured when he was hit by a car. It was unclear who was driving, or if the wounded officer was the one who fired. He was in good condition at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
