Juan Herrera of Laguna Hills defeated Mexico’s Manual Villa, 15-7, 15-2, in the first round of the boys’ 18-and-under World Junior Racquetball Championships Friday at Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley.
Villa’s loss was the only defeat in seven matches for Mexico, which brought 63 players to the event, its largest contingent at a world junior championship.
Herrera’s brother, Andres, lost to Mexico’s Polo Gutierrez, 15-7, 15-4, in the 16-and-under division.
