PANORAMA CITY — A health fair offering free immunizations as well as screenings for cholesterol, diabetes and anemia will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Panorama City Valley Indoor Swap Meet.
“We want health care to be accessible to low-income communities,” said Martha Ugarte, organizer of the event called La Salud Para Ti (Health for You) and sponsored by the Spanish language newspaper La Opinion.
A variety of educational exhibits will provide information on such topics as the risks of tobacco use and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.
More than 40 health organizations will be on hand to offer services, including signing kids up for Healthy Families, a state-sponsored program that provides free or low-cost health insurance for children.
The swap meet is at 14650 Parthenia St.
