MTA and Riordan
The reason why the MTA has its financial house more in order under Mayor Richard Riordan’s guidance (June 28) is not because Riordan cares about financial responsibility, but because the federal government was on the verge of cutting off Metro Rail funds due to rampant mismanagement.
The MTA’s priorities have not changed. Who cares about mere bus riders accounting for the vast majority of passengers when you can build expensive rail projects which please big contractors and lead to hefty campaign contributions? Ah yes, business as usual continues!
