Kiwanis Club Saves Softball All-Star Game

The North-South All-Star softball game, in danger of not being played this season, was saved Wednesday by the Kiwanis Club of Anaheim Hills/Yorba Linda.
The club voted unanimously to sponsor a game June 9 after an appeal to the club by Canyon softball Coach Lance Eddy.
The game had been sponsored in the past by Soroptomist International of Brea/La Habra, which held the game at Brea Olinda High. According to Brea Coach Sharen Caperton, the Soroptomists said it would not host the game this season because it was busy with other projects but would resume next season.
That decision stunned and angered coaches, who were unable to sponsor the game because of section regulations.
“A school can’t do anything with it--it’s a CIF rule,” Caperton said.
