Assistant Supt. Gary Rutherford of the Huntington Beach City School District recently presented the Board of Trustees with language arts and math results for the 1998-1999 school year. Agnes L. Smith Elementary School had the highest percentage of students who tested at or above their grade level in language arts with 75.5%. Ethel Dwyer Middle School had the lowest percentage with 55.4%. The district average was 63.8%. Dr. Ralph E. Hawes Elementary School had the highest scores in math, with 84.5% of students at or above their grade level. Joseph R. Perry Elementary had the lowest scores at 50.7%. The district mathematics average was 69.9%.
