The excellent Nov. 2 article (“A Once Frugal GOP Loosens Grip on Wallet”) makes it all too clear that both major parties are pushing the growth of our government. It should open the eyes of Americans who are opposed to big government, yet who keep voting Republican and then wonder why government keeps getting bigger. They should realize that their only hope lies in third parties, particularly the Libertarian Party.

Yep, the Democrats now have the unions, feminists, gays and lesbians, seniors, poor people, immigrants and blacks. The average hard-working people in this country are now outnumbered by the special interest groups looking for a handout. This tidal wave is going to be extremely difficult to turn around. Socialism is the long-term plan by the Democrats and they are winning.
