At 6 a.m. on Friday, trout, look out!
That’s when trout fishing season officially begins at Laguna Niguel Lake. The county stocked the lake with 5,000 pounds of colorful and tasty rainbow trout.
There are 25 rental boats available on the 44-acre lake. Float tubes, which resemble life preservers for fishermen, are available for a $10 rental fee. Day use permits are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for children 16 and younger. Each angler is allowed to keep five trout for each permit.
Laguna Niguel Lake is in Laguna Niguel Regional Park on 28241 La Paz Road. It is open for fishing from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. until April.
