PANORAMA CITY — A woman pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident Friday evening that left a 5-year-old boy and a second woman critically injured, officials said.
The boy suffered severe head wounds and was airlifted to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles, said city Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. The injured 24-year-old was taken to Providence-Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
The fatally injured woman was 55 years old, Wells said. Officials did not release the names of any of the victims.
The three were hit shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Lanark Street, about a block west of Van Nuys Boulevard, according to Wells. Several blocks away, at the intersection of Burton Street and Brimfield Avenue, police investigators were examining a white sedan with a broken windshield, but officials would not say if they had determined the car was the one that struck the pedestrians.
No arrests had been made and no suspects were identified as of Friday night.
