Both sides in the Dana Point Headlands debate agree that the decision to include two bed and breakfast or inn facilities on the development instead of a 100-room hotel, as was initially proposed, was a key factor in the tentative proposal agreement announced Wednesday night.
Headlands Reserve LLC principal Sanford Edward and Dana Point Mayor Ruby L. Netzley said they believe that placing two lodging facilities at different locations across the development’s 121 acres should alleviate concerns over potential traffic problems that may have been caused by a large hotel.
“I think anybody would agree that the size and scale and impact of a B&B; is much different than a large hotel. It has a different ambience. It definitely creates a different impact,” Edward said.
