Both of tonight’s starting pitchers had disappointing seasons but have pitched well recently.
Tom Glavine was 11-4 after going 3-7 in his first 12 starts and went six strong innings in Atlanta’s 5-3, 12-inning victory in Game 3 of the division series with Houston.
Al Leiter gave up only two hits in the Met’s 6-0 wild-card playoff victory over Cincinnati and gave up only three hits in 7 2/3 innings of a 4-3, Game 4 victory over Arizona that put the Mets in the championship series.
