No. 4 El Toro Gets Victory

Brad Burnett, Trevor McMunn and Brett McCleave scored goals to break a third-quarter tie and give fourth-ranked El Toro a 10-3 victory over host San Diego Coronado in boys’ nonleague water polo Saturday.
McCleave had a game-high four goals. Jon Hopkins scored three goals for Coronado.
The Charger defense held Jesse Smith, a member of the junior national team, scoreless.
Ali Khalessi made four of his 13 saves in the final quarter for El Toro (19-3).
In other nonleague games:
No. 1 Newport Harbor 12, La Jolla Bishops 4--Peter Belden, Ryan Cook and Steven Jendrusina each scored two goals to lead the host Sailors (16-1). Tim Birdsong made nine saves and Shawn Johnson made four for Newport Harbor, which took a 9-1 lead at the half.
No. 7 Corona del Mar 10, Capistrano Valley 3--Corona del Mar was up 2-0 at the end of the first quarter and extended its lead to 5-1 at halftime.
In the North Orange County boys’ water polo tournament:
Troy 8, Huntington Beach 6--Kevan Koskie scored four goals, Ian Markstrum scored three and Andrew Couchman scored one to help Troy (14-4) finish ninth in the tournament.
