OUTLOOK
Anaheim hasn’t won a game since 1996, but Carter will only look forward. He has replaced all but one member of last season’s staff with a more mature group and says his players are responding well. “We have a really good attitude as far as team play,” Carter said. “We’re leaving the past behind and moving forward.” Lopez made the all-league second team in his first year of football last season and gives the Colonists a sturdy, dependable running back. Jimenez has good hands and a knack for running precise patterns. His skills will come in handy for Patterson, who has grown three inches since last season, but hasn’t had many snaps. Moreno is a captain and two-way player who also holds a 4.0 grade-point average. Carter considers him a team leader who always plays hard. Carter already scored a victory when he convinced Safotu to come out for the first time.
