If any coaches are short of defensive backs, they should inquire with defensive coordinator Joe McNab of Notre Dame about making a trade.
McNab has 10 defensive backs competing for four starting positions. Never before has Notre Dame enjoyed so much quality depth in the secondary.

Earning the right to start Friday against Notre Dame were cornerbacks Jimmy Sharp and Darren Quinn and safeties Phil Beckmann and Matt Lutz.
