Justice System

* As residents of the county and city of Ventura, we have reason to be extremely proud of our Ventura Police Department and district attorney’s office for their superior work and top level of professionalism.
Last year my husband, Felipe Arambula, lost his life. My kids lost a father and I lost a husband. Thanks to the hard work of many police detectives, investigators, officers and prosecutors, two of the three men responsible for my husband’s death will, for the rest of their lives, remain in prison. The third will one day be caught.
In these times, many are skeptical about the caliber of the institutions dedicated to serving justice for all. Today I realize how so many in our justice system deserve our admiration and respect for selflessly bearing the dangers of their thankless jobs. As a victim of a heinous crime, my experience moves me to extend heartfelt gratitude to those involved in this investigation and prosecution.
Nobody has won anything here. Justice is not about winning. Justice is about bringing to a close the loss suffered by all and it is about keeping our communities safe.
