Allow Homeless to Live on Base
* It is beyond belief that so many houses stand empty on the former Tustin Marine base while homeless people wander the streets seeking shelter.
Why cannot an agreement be put in place immediately to use these houses temporarily for the purpose intended: to house people?
Why is an environmental impact statement necessary when these dwellings formerly housed whole families just a few months ago? What is different here?
The government should offer all these houses as temporary shelter until the final transfer is made to the new landlords. Truth be told, this housing probably will be razed to make way for new development. Let it serve some useful and charitable purpose in the interim.
