Defenseman Pascal Trepanier played his first game since undergoing reconstructive knee surgery in April.
Trepanier, who was injured while playing basketball during a day off last season in Dallas, jumped right into the fray Monday against the Kings at the Forum. He goaded King right wing Marko Tuomainen into taking a high-sticking penalty only 4:51 into the game.

Left wing Maxim Balmochnykh practiced with his teammates on Sunday, his first full workout since suffering a separated right shoulder last week. Hartsburg hopes to play Balmochnykh in at least one exhibition before sending the rookie to Cincinnati of the American Hockey League. . . . The Ducks’ final regular-season record at the Forum was 6-9-2, and they were 0-4 in exhibitions.
