Capriotti Fires No-Hitter for Capo Valley Christian

Lauren Capriotti pitched a no-hitter, striking out 18, as Capistrano Valley Christian defeated St. Margaret’s, 8-2, in an Academy League softball game Friday at Capistrano Valley Christian.
St. Margaret’s got two runs without a walk from Capriotti, scoring on a combination of passed balls, dropped third strikes and fielder’s choices.
Offensively, Capriotti had a double, a triple and an RBI for the Eagles (9-1, 2-0), who led, 6-2, after six innings.
In nonleague softball:
Northwood 10, Saddleback 0--Freshman Allison Lewis pitched a six-inning, one-hit shutout, striking out 14 for Northwood. Lewis also homered, tripled and drove in three runs for host Northwood (5-2).
Santa Margarita 3, Trabuco Hills 2--Megan Moen knocked in the deciding run with a single in the first inning for visiting Santa Margarita (8-5).
In nonleague boys’ swimming:
No. 2 Villa Park 125, San Marino 45--Junior Charlie Fisher was a double winner, finishing first in the 100 freestyle (51.43) and the 100 backstroke (58.97). Fisher also swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.32) and 400 freestyle relay (3:34.43) teams for host Villa Park (6-0).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Irvine wins three-way meet--Irvine won all but one event. Stephanie Hsiao recorded victories in the 200 individual medley (2:08.98) and 100 freestyle (53.94). Hsiao’s time in the IM was the second-fastest in the county this season. She already has the top mark in the 100 freestyle.
Irvine, which hosted the meet at Heritage Park, defeated sixth-ranked Mission Viejo, 133-35, and Marina, 111-59.
Melissa Ramsey won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.48 for Mission Viejo.
Santa Margarita 121, El Toro 49--Freshman Erica Figge won the 50 freestyle (25.19) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.57). Figge also competed on the winning 200 medley and freestyle relays.
In nonleague boys’ tennis:
Costa Mesa 10, St. Margaret’s 8--Jordan Reisenwever was a bright spot for visiting St. Margaret’s (3-4), as he swept, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0. Costa Mesa improves to 2-9.
Irvine 13, Fountain Valley 5--Eric Aarnaes and John Park swept their singles sets for the Vaqueros (8-4).
