Santa Ana Rallies, Beats Riverside on Wild Pitch

Aaron Escobedo scored the winning run for Santa Ana on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as the Dons defeated Riverside, 3-2, in Orange Empire Conference baseball Saturday.
Santa Ana’s C.J. Wilson hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the score, 2-2. Wilson had two hits and made a diving catch in the top of the seventh to keep Riverside (23-6-1, 11-5) from scoring.
Pitcher Jeremy Weinberg (8-1) pitched his second complete game of the season, giving up six hits and two earned runs. First-place Santa Ana is 25-4-1, 14-4 in conference.
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Cypress 6, Orange Coast 5--First baseman Eric Weithorn hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give Orange Coast a lead that it held until the sixth. Then Cypress, trailing, 5-3, got a three-run home run by Darrin Davis.
Cypress’ Mike Tomarelli had a sacrifice fly and a double with three RBIs. Ray Aguilar (6-1) pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and three walks to get the victory for Cypress (23-6, 10-6).
Golden West 12, Fullerton 4--Eric Archer hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning for Golden West (15-15, 6-10). Nate Beucler (4-2) was the winning pitcher, giving up four runs and nine hits. Host Fullerton is 12-18, 5-11.
