Re “Despite Polls, Bush Vows to Run All-Out in California,” April 6: George W. Bush claims that “Californians have a healthy disrespect of Washington,” and feels he can tap into that feeling. I think that despite our more liberal attitudes than Texas, Californians do not innately view Washington as the enemy but as the center of political power of this great nation. However, if Bush does get elected president, I think many Californians will keep our healthy attitudes about tolerance, choice and the environment and develop a disrespect for the new guy in the Oval Office.
