The city is discussing a conceptual plan to revitalize the downtown area to better accommodate and attract visitors.
Improvements to the site, located between Avenida del Mar, El Camino Real and Avenida Cabrillo, include more parking, wider sidewalks, landscaping and well-lighted alleys that would be safer for pedestrians.
The project will be funded from development fees of $6.5 million to $8 million from large housing projects such as Talega, Marblehead Coastal and Forster Ranch.
