* In his April 16 Opinion piece, Michael Elliott casually tossed off, as reasons that we might not be entirely pleased with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, that they “imposed tough conditions on loans to developing countries and built dams where they shouldn’t have.”
One wonders if the millions of people forced into ever-deeper poverty or from their homes with no place to go and nothing to go with would be equally cavalier.
