Ivey’s One-Hitter Is Poison for University

Megan Ivey pitched a one-hitter and Saugus High defeated Irvine University, 3-0, Wednesday in pool play at the Woodbridge tournament Wednesday.
Ivey struck out eight and retired 17 of the last 18 hitters.
Julie Watson and Ivey each had two hits for Saugus (11-6), ranked No. 9 in the region by The Times.
Watson had two more hits as the Centurions lost, 1-0, to El Toro in another game.
Alemany 3, Grove City (Ohio) 2--Kaitlin Reiss’ two-run double powered the Indians (10-8) at Alemany.
La Canada 3, South Pasadena 1--Kelly Kalish pitched a four-hitter in a Rio Hondo League victory at La Canada (8-5, 7-0).
Paraclete 18, Pasadena Marshall 0--Sara Gonzales pitched a no-hitter and struck out 10 for the Spirits (9-8, 3-0) in an Alpha League victory at Paraclete.
Village Christian 4, Boron 1--Jessica McIntosh pitched a three-hitter and struck out nine, and the Crusaders (11-5) won the Bakersfield Christian tournament.
