Deputy ‘Waiters’ to Aid Special Olympics
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies will serve hungry patrons at a Camarillo restaurant Monday during a “Tip a Cop” fund-raiser to benefit Special Olympics.
Undersheriff Craig Husband and several other deputies will act as waiters at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill from 5 to 9 p.m. Tips earned that night will be donated to Ventura County’s Special Olympics events.
Last year, the deputies raised $3,000. The department’s Camarillo mobile storefront will be represented with displays and McGruff the crime-fighting dog.
Parents can also get their children fingerprinted by deputies, keeping copies of the prints on file in case authorities need help tracking down youngsters.
The restaurant is at 1101 Daily Drive.
