To pitch an entire major league season without suffering a loss has been accomplished many times, but often the pitcher’s record is 0-0, or maybe 1-0.
In 1985, rookie Pat Clements was 5-0 in his one and only season with the Angels. That’s the club’s record for most season victories without a loss.
Pitchers with the most decisions in a season without a loss:
12-0 Tom Zachary, New York Yankees, 1929
11-0 Dennis Lamp, Toronto Blue Jays, 1985
10-0 Howie Krist, St. Louis Cardinals, 1941
9-0 Joe Pate, Philadelphia Athletics, 1926; Ken Holtzman, Chicago Cubs, 1967; Frank Dipino, St. Louis Cardinals, 1989
8-0 Ted Wilks, St. Louis Cardinals, 1946; Grant Jackson, Baltimore Orioles, 1973; Kirk Rueter, Montreal Expos, 1993; Pat Mahomes, New York Mets, 1999
