Southern California Gas Co. began construction of a pipeline this week on Ortega Highway, from Interstate 5 to La Novia Avenue, and on a half-block of La Novia.
The company is replacing 2,700 feet of a 3-inch-diameter pipeline with an 8-inch pipe for better pressure, said Denise King, company spokeswoman.
“With all the residential development there, we have to increase the size so it can handle the larger customer load,” she said.
The construction is being done only in the evenings and should be finished by the end of May, King said.
