The school board will consider prioritizing the purchase of 30 instruments for the elementary school music program.
The proposal, made by the administration and music teachers, would allow elementary schools to establish a six-week music basics class for fourth- and fifth-graders.
The instruments include 10 trumpets, 10 clarinets, five flutes and five saxophones, costing a total of $13,713.
The school principals are planning to increase the after-school music program next year so participants, who now meet weekly can meet twice a week.
The meeting will begin at 7:15 tonight in the district boardroom, 550 Blumont St.
