Bobby Paschal
School: Chaminade
Year: Sophomore
Sport: Baseball
Season at a glance: Paschal, who started the season as a fill-in, has emerged as Chaminade’s No. 1 pitcher after putting together a streak in which he shut out Harvard-Westlake, defeated Crespi and shut out Carson. The left-hander is 5-0 with a 1.26 earned-run average. “I knew he had it in him,” Coach Scott Drootin said. “I didn’t know it would be this fast.”
Week at a glance: Paschal pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 4-0 victory over City Section-power Carson on Thursday in the Las Vegas Bishop Gorman tournament. He came back on Saturday to pick up two victories in relief, each time pitching a scoreless inning.

Natalie Stein
School: North Hollywood
Year: Junior
Sport Track and field
Season at a glance: Stein, second in the 3,200 meters and third in the 1,600 in the City Section championships last year, is having the best season of her career. She won the 3,200 in the Pasadena Games at Pasadena City College on March 25 and placed first in the 1,600 and 3,200 in the San Fernando Valley Invitational at Birmingham High on Saturday.
Week at a glance: Stein ran 5:13.0 in the 1,600 and 11:10.9 in the 3,200 in the San Fernando Valley Invitational. The times fell short of her career bests of 5:12.48 and 10:58.55, but they gave her two victories over Valerie Flores of San Pedro, the defending City champion who is coming back from a leg injury. “I don’t know why I’m running faster,” Stein said. “But I’m happy about it.”
