Placentia-Yorba Linda School District Superintendent James O. Fleming has been named Superintendent of the Year by the Orange County Chapter of the Assn. of California School Administrators.
Fleming will receive the award in May.
District officials said the award recognizes the superintendent for “outstanding leadership in managing school programs, support of the school management program . . . and creativity in dealing with issues facing public education.”
With this recognition Fleming will become a candidate for the state title which will be awarded in November.
Fleming’s award comes just a few months before his retirement in July. The district has already hired a search firm to look for a successor.
