Ryan Dillon, a guard for Victor Valley High in Victorville, said Thursday he has made an oral commitment to play basketball at Cal State Fullerton.
Dillon, the first recruit for new Fullerton Coach Donny Daniels, averaged 22.8 points and had 105 three-point baskets last season.
“Coach Daniels [was] in contact with me when he was at Utah,” Dillon said. “I liked him a lot.”
Dillon said he also considered San Diego State, Bucknell and UC Davis.
Daniels said he could not comment because of NCAA rules.
A proposal that opens the door to the possibility of an additional year of eligibility for Cal State Fullerton basketball player Ike Harmon was approved by the NCAA Board of Directors Thursday, Fullerton athletic department spokesman Mel Franks said.
The NCAA action would allow nonqualifiers to regain the year of eligibility they lost as freshmen if they graduate before the start of their fifth academic year. Harmon has indicated he hopes to graduate by the end of the summer session.
