The Laguna Woods Community Services Committee approved allocating up to $100,000 in grants Wednesday for social services and transportation programs.
The committee will seek approval from the City Council this month to award the grants to nonprofit organizations in the city.
The committee received 12 requests and approved eight social service grants and one $15,000 transportation grant to South County Senior Services. The organization, which offers health care, social day care, Meals on Wheels and nutritional services to seniors, requested the funds to increase its senior transportation program.
The City Council will vote on the grants at 2 p.m. Dec. 20 in the Leisure World Administration Building Board Room, 23522 Paseo de Valencia, Laguna Woods. Information: (949) 452-0600.
