PALM SPRINGS — Two men were killed when a small plane approaching Palm Springs Airport crashed on a street Wednesday.
No one on the ground was hurt when the plane went down shortly after noon.
“One of our off-duty fire personnel saw the plane go out of control and spiral to the ground,” said Fire Marshal Carl Thibeault.
The identities of the two victims were not immediately made public, but Thibeault said the single-engine Cessna 152 was owned by a flight school at the airfield.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board were sent to the scene to investigate what caused the plane to crash.
