Discerning auto thieves prefer imports, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s annual listing of the most-stolen models. The rankings show Japanese passenger cars taking the top three spots and two more among the top 10, with American-made trucks occupying the middle ranks of the dubious hot list for 1999:

1. Honda Accord

2. Toyota Camry

3. Honda Civic

4. Chevrolet Silverado and C/K pickups

5. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Cherokee

6. Ford F-Series pickups

7. Oldsmobile Cutlass

8. Dodge Caravan minivan

9. Nissan Maxima

10. Acura Integra
