Olausson Made Powerful Statement

SAN JOSE — If there was one player who symbolized the Ducks’ offensive woes in December and January it would be defenseman Fredrik Olausson. The Ducks’ power play was 15 for 125 (12%) during a 27-game span during those months. And Olausson had only one goal and four points.
“There comes a point in the season when you have to say, ‘Enough is enough,’ ” he said.
Going into Tuesday’s game against the San Jose Sharks, Olausson directed the power play to 15 goals in 53 chances (28.3%). Olausson had four goals, including three on the power play, and 11 points in February.
“It couldn’t have come at a better time than now,” Olausson said of his and the power play’s February surge. “You’re going to hit snags during the season. [The power play] has taken longer than we all would have liked it to work.”
The power play clicked again against the Sharks. Center Matt Cullen scored on a deflection of defenseman Ruslan Salei’s shot from near the blue line 3:42 into the game. It was the 12th game in the last 14 in which the Ducks scored at least one power-play goal.

Defenseman Pavel Trnka was scratched, and Jason Marshall played for only the fifth time in the last 10 games.
